What Does It Cost to Rent in East Hanover and Florham Park?

What does it cost to rent property in East Hanover and Florham Park? More than you'd think.

The website Rich Blocks, Poor Blocks has broken down the rental costs in town and mapped them out using data from the American Community Survey as part of the latest Census.

The southernmost part of East Hanover, from the border of Florham Park to just before Deforest Avenue and Ridgedale Avenue meet (see map in photos) is one of the most expensive areas to rent, with median monthly rent costing $1,793.

The statewide middle rental range is between $928 and $1,071.

In northern East Hanover, rent drops by over $700 to $1,088.

Rent varies widely in Florham Park, from $1,167 median rent in the cheapest part of town, around Briarwood Field and the intersection of Columbia Turnpike and Hanover Road, to $1,932 along Park Avenue, Route 24, the Brooklake Country Club and north to the border of East Hanover.

Near Kinney Street Park and towards the border with Madison, rents are a little more reasonable at $1,361 median rent. 

Surrounding towns' rents varied by municipality, with New Vernon rent one of the cheapest at $789 (of course, that's with a plus-or-minus of over $1,000.) Rent in Morristown varied from $972 to $1,211, and rent in Madison hovered from $1,400 to nearly $2,000, depending on the location.

Rich Blocks, Poor Blocks also breaks down median household income by area in a separate color-coded map. The average household income in the northern part of East Hanover was $102,500, compared to $128,478 in the south. Florham Park income rates varied from $86,875 to $119,118 where rent is highest, according to the site.
