Thief Strikes 3 Lifetime Fitness Members

Despite locks, cash and credit cards went missing from lockers.

Florham Park Police responded to three separate thefts at Lifetime Fitness in recent days.

According to Capt. Robert Treiber, the first theft was reported on July 28. Shortly before 1 p.m. a Lifetime Fitness member told police he went to the locker room, changed and went to the pool area. A short time later he realized he left his cell phone, membership card and $20 cash on a bench in the locker room. When the member returned to the bench he found all three times missing.

Two further thefts from the mens locker room were reported on Aug. 3, when police returned to Lifetime Fitness. The first victim said he placed his personal belongings in a locker at about 5:45 p.m., locked it and when he returned at around 7:30 p.m. he found $20 cash and a credit card missing from the locker. The lock appeared intact and showed no signs of being tampered with, Treiber said.

The next victim arrived at about 5 p.m. and returned to his locker at about 7 p.m., when he told police there was $600 cash missing from his belongings. As with the first victim, Treiber said, the locker showed no signs of being tampered with and the lock was intact.

Treiber asked anyone with information to call the Florham Park Police Detective Bureau at 973-377-2200 or Crime Stoppers at (973) COP- CALL.
