Medy Bozkurtian started drawing and classical piano at a very early age in her native Bulgaria. After she immigrated to America she studied piano pedagogy at the Juilliard School of Music and oil painting at the Art Students’ League, both in NYC. She taught piano and painted in her studio in New York. Medy and her husband moved to New Jersey a few years ago to be closer to their grandchildren. In recent years Medy has been exploring the magical medium of watercolor and the versatility of acrylic painting. She studied at the New Jersey Center for Visual Arts and Ridgewood Art Institute, and with noted artists around the world like Alavaro Castagnet, Edwin Havas, Carl Burger, Dorothy Ganek, Don Andrews, Joel Popadics, Robert Saxon, John Salminen, Robert Burridge and others.

Medy’s art is inspired by her world travels and her love of music, people and nature. She captures the essence of her subjects with expressive realism, a hint of impressionism and abstractionism. Her paintings have been in juried exhibits at the Salmagundi Club and the National Arts Gallery in NYC, as well as group and solo shows in galleries prominent public spaces in the tri-state area.

Medy is an Elected Member and Fellow of the American Artists Professional League in NYC and a signature member of the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club in NYC, the Northeast Watercolor Society, the Garden State Watercolor Society and Essex Water Color Club, where she recently served as President.

Medy’s work has been represented and sold by Design Domaine Gallery in Bernardsville, Art Chateau Gallery in Chester, and Alfa Art Gallery in New Brunswick, NJ, and is in private and corporate collections in the US and Europe.

Medy works from her studio in East Hanover, NJ. Music is an integral part of the creative process for her.
