And finally, the screen name "Gobsmacked" refers to a British term meaning "amazed". That anyone could be so …   more ›

That clarification needs a little help of its own. For instance, "...never attack the candidate's children or spouses" the last noun should be singular unless you're referring to a polygamist. The words "vets" and "spouses" are not capitalized unless, of course, they begin a sentence. "Candidates" has two ds, even if it's the second time you used the word and are growing tired.   more ›

Arrests Nip Garden Center Thefts in Bud, Cops Say

Montville Township bust could lead to charges from police departments in East Hanover, Boonton Township, Harding, Chester Township and Wayne, authorities say.

Montville police say the arrests of three people in connection with an alleged burglary at Condurso's Garden Center in the township could help solve thefts from other garden centers and floral shops in Morris and Passaic counties. After a burglar alarm was triggered at Condurso's around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, Montville Ptl. Robert Koetzner pulled over a woman who was driving on side streets away from the area of the garden center and farm market. The driver, Natalie Johnson, a 27-year-old whose last known address was in Morristown, and two passengers, who police say were sitting low in the car—Eric Allred, a 25-year-old Morristown resident, and Michael Blackman, a 19-year-old Randolph resident—were arrested in connection with the incident at…

Tourism commissioner says rental market is healthy.

Though immense devastation from Superstorm Sandy remains visible up and down the New Jersey coastline, beaches, boardwalks and even rental homes are ready for the annual influx of summer tourists that will begin this weekend, officials said Thursday at the annual "State of the Shore" event in Belmar. With emergency repairs to state and local infrastructure damaged by the storm now complete, work has started on the state's long term recovery, said Bob Martin, commissioner of the state Department of …

Many of us who grew up in New Jersey have wonderful memories of the Jersey Shore. I was a Bradley Beach and Asbury Park guy who remembers the glory days from the 1960's when Asbury Park had 5 movie theaters and a great Boardwalk. I am also thrilled that Governor Christie and President Obama are touring the improvements together. While I do not agree with many of the Presidents programs, I do …   more ›
