Whippany Park High Names January's Students of the Month

Seniors Liam McLaughlin and Dina Sheira were named as the high school's top students for the first month of 2014.

Two Whippany Park High School seniors have earned special distinction, according to a statement from the Hanover Park Regional School District. Liam McLaughlin and Dina Sheira were named as the high school's Students of the Month for January.

Liam McLaughlin is known for his ability to balance and prioritize his 
academic and curricular commitments, according to the district. McLaughlin has challenged himself academically through enrollment in honors and AP courses, resulting in multiple designations on the school’s honor roll and as a high scoring participant in the WordWright Challenge. In the extracurricular realm, McLaughlin has been a four-year member of the football team, currently serving as captain, and a four-year member of the Spring Track program. He is also a two-year member of the National Honors Society and a four-year participant in Future Business Leaders of America, where he placed in the regional competition.

Dina Sheira is an active and positive influence at Whippany Park, the statement continued. She is known for leading by example through her achievements in both the curricular and co-curricular realms. Sheira has been recognized academically through multiple designations on Whippany Park’s honor roll and has also been named an outstanding participant in the 2014 National Achievement Scholarship program, a recipient of the Presidential Physical Fitness Award and a nominee for the New Jersey Girl’s State program. In the co-curricular domain, Sheira has been a two-year member of the girl’s soccer team, serving as captain during her junior and senior years. Sheira is also a four-year member of the track program and a two-year member of Varsity Club.
