Whippany Park Girls Soccer Honored for Good Sportsmanship

The Silver Award goes to teams that show good sportsmanship on the field

The Whippany Park High School girls soccer team obviously has the right stuff when it comes to being good sports on the field. The squad recently was among high schools awarded the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Silver Team Ethics Award of Merit.

It's exciting news for Coach Marc Dovico and his girls, and for good reason, according to NSCAA Ethics Committee member Scott Fridley.

"This is very difficult to achieve and really shows your commitment to the integrity of the game," he said in a message to Dovico and the team. "On behalf of the NSCAA and the ethics committee we would like to extend our appreciation to [the] team for fair play and great character on the field."

The Silver Award goes to teams that show good sportsmanship on the field by accumulating zero red cards and no more than five yellow cards during play. In soccer, the cards indicate penalties and fouls.
