Lonegan, Booker Win Most Local Votes

Pair will square off at polls Oct. 16 for U.S. Senate seat.

Residents of East Hanover and Florham Park were of the same mind as the rest of New Jersey when they went to the polls Tuesday.

Almost 86 percent of East Hanover Republicans voted for Steven M. Lonegan, who took the GOP nomination for the U.S. Senate to fill the seat vacated when Frank Lautenberg died earlier this year. Likewise, Lonegan won support among Florham Park residents, winning 79.9 percent of the vote in the borough.

Democrats in the township voted overwhelmingly for Cory Booker, with 50 percent of Florham Park Democrats voting for the mayor of Newark.

Full election results are included in this article.

The candidates will face off in a special election on Oct. 16.
