Editor's note: The following is the text of East Hanover Mayor Joseph Pannullo's address at the East Hanover Council's 2013 reorganzation meetng, which was held Wednesday, Jan. 2.

Happy New Year! Congratulations to Council President Carolyn Jandoli and her husband Steve and their families on her re-election and swearing-in this evening. I know Carolyn will continue to do a great job on Council and we look forward to working together as we continue to move ahead and perform the tasks ahead on behalf of the citizens of East Hanover.

We will continue to try and keep our property taxes as low as possible while managing our community including working as efficiently as possible, maintaining our infrastructure, preparing for what seems to be reoccurring storms and generally improving the quality of life for all of our residents and business despite these difficult economic times and unprecedented times in the State of New Jersey and our country.

Congratulations to all of our citizens appointed today. Thank you for all that you do for our community participating as volunteers on our boards. I want to especially thank our volunteer fire department and volunteer first aid squad and all of their members for serving our community every day.

I also want to thank all of East Hanover’s employee work force including all of our Departments-Police, Public Works, Clerk, Tax, Water, Sewer, Building, Recreation, the Library and all of our inspectors and part-time employees who do a great job everyday on behalf of the Citizens of East Hanover. They all do a great job serving our residents and businesses.

Ladies and gentlemen, these continue to be difficult economic times but I want to say East Hanover has been very fortunate because of all of its citizens, volunteers, and employees working together to make East Hanover a great community. I know it has not been easy the last few years but our future is bright and we continue to be an affordable and stable community to live, work, and raise a family.

On behalf of my wife Terry and the entire Pannullo family, we wish all of you and your families a Happy and Healthy New Year and as you have heard me say before, we may all not be related by blood but we are related by community and I thank all of you for allowing me to serve you as mayor and I thank all of you for making East Hanover a great community. Thank you.
