Morris County Clerk's Office to Tally Referendum Votes

Cartridges with results from East Hanover, Florham Park and Hanover polling locations destined for Morristown.

After polls close at 9 p.m. for the Hanover Park Regional special election on Tuesday, cartridges that tally the "yes" and "no" votes will be taken from the seven polling locations to their respective municipal buildings in East Hanover, Florham Park and Hanover.

From there, the cartridges will be picked up by the Morris County Clerk's Office and taken to the county Administration and Records building on Court Street in Morristown to be read.

While the votes come from three separate municipalities, how an individual town votes does not affect the overall outcome. The measure—asking voters whether the district may borrow about $17.53 million for athletic field projects at Whippany Park and Hanover Park high schools—needs a simple majority of all the votes cast in the district to pass.
