Contested General Election for East Hanover

Two people filed for the election.

Two residents of East Hanover filed to run for the township council in advance of Monday's filing deadline.

Republican incumbent Giuseppe "Joe" Peluso will run as a Republican for the council. Peluso is currently in his first term and has also been a member of the East Hanover Fire Department Association, the East Hanover Italian American Club and the East Hanover Education Foundation.

William Salemme will run as a Democrat for the council. Salemme is a member of the township's Planning Board member and supported Carolyn Jandoli in the 2012 elections.

With no other petitions filed, this means East Hanover residents will have an uncontested June primary and a contested general election in November.

One seat on the council is available for a three-year term.
