Woman Killed in Crash a Retired Special Ed Teacher

Beverly White lived in Chatham and Florham Park.

A Florham Park woman who died in a one-car crash on North Passaic Avenue in Chatham last week worked as a special education teacher for many years and had three children and five grandchildren, according to her obituary.

Beverly White, who moved from Florham Park to Chatham and then back to Florham Park, was a member of the Summit Art League, the Summit Jewish Community Center and the Madison-based Chabad of South East Morris County, her obituary says.

She had retired from teaching nine years ago.

A Chatham police accident report says White's car was traveling northbound on North Passaic Avenue when the car, for unknown reasons, crossed over the center line and left the roadway, striking a tree in a front yard near Harvard Street around 3:23 p.m. She was pronounced dead at Morristown Medical Center.

White, who lived in Commack and East Northport, N.Y., before moving to New Jersey, had a bachelor's degree in education from Mills Teaching College in New York and a master's degree in special education from Adelphi University, New York. She was predeceased by her late husband, Howard White.

A service was held Sunday at Ross' Shalom Chapels in Chatham, according to the funeral home website.
