East Hanover Teen to Perform with All-National Honors Ensembles

Dante Pasquale selected to participate in gala concert in Tennessee.

A Hanover Park High School senior has been selected as a member of the 2013 National Association for Music Education All-National Honor mixed chorus.

Dante Pasquale will join more than 670 of the most musically talented and skilled high school students in the nation in performing at a gala concert on Oct. 30, in Nashville, Tenn.

The students will prepare and perform challenging music under the baton of four of the most prominent conductors in the U.S.: Dr. Peter Boonshaft, Miriam Burns, Rollo Dilworth, and Rodney Whitaker.

Michele Pasquale, Dante's mother, told Patch that getting the opportunity took a lot of jumping through hoops.

"A student needs to be in their high school chorus class as well as in their state's All-State chorus in order to even audition," she said. "He had to audition via a video of him singing two different pieces.   He is one of 350 students who made it from across the nation."

The NAfME All-National Honors Ensembles—a concert band, symphony orchestra, mixed chorus,  and jazz ensemble—are organized by members of the National Association for Music Education. Eligible students qualified for their state-level honor ensemble program and competed against top students for a spot in these national honor ensembles.

And on Oct. 30, the ensembles Nashville's Gaylord Opryland Hotel.
