East Hanover Middle School Named NJ School of Character

The East Hanover School District is pleased to announce that East Hanover Middle School has been named a 2014 New Jersey  School of Character by the New Jersey Alliance for Social, Emotional and Character Development (NJASECD).

The Schools of Character Program provides schools with a methodology by which they may improve culture, climate and instruction through an established framework, The 11 Principles of Effective Character Education.  New Jersey Schools of Character (NJSOC) are then selected based on having achieved standards of excellence in the various areas of character development. NJSOC designees are then advanced for consideration at the national level.

While honored to be recognized as a School of Character, East Hanover Middle School does not intend to rest on its laurels.  “Our goal is to maintain our current NJSOC status,” said Stacie Costello, EHMS Principal.  “We have an excellent character education program in place, and we are constantly tweaking it to better meet the needs of our students and the expectations of our parents and community members.”
